This is the companion blog to my vlog on the same subject. Here you’ll find the supplemental information mentioned in the video. In case you missed it, here’s the video!

V. Click WELD from the bottom, right tool bar
VI. Finally, click the green MAKE IT button on the top, right

How to use Cricut software to design a decal for your sewing projects

CUT:

I. Use the grid marks on the design to determine the size of the vinyl you’ll need. For the drink cup design above, I cut a piece 7″ x 8″ – just a little larger than the actual design.
II. IMPORTANT: Place the vinyl with the pretty side down. If both sides look pretty (LOL, I know this from experience) the real pretty side is the one that was rolled to the outside on the tube.
III. ALSO IMPORTANT: Click MIRROR IMAGE so that your decal irons on in the correct way.
IV. Choose VINYL from the dial on the top of the machine
V. Fit the mat into the machine, press it firmly, and press the ARROW button the machine.
VI. The moment of truth, click the CRICUT button on your machine and watch the magic happen

IRON:

I. Using the WEEDER TOOL, carefully peel away all of the negative space of your design
II. Position the image on your prepared piece of fabric
III. Using a pressing cloth if necessary, place your iron on to the decal and press firmly for desired time. When time elapses, pick up the iron to move it rather than sliding it around.
IV. After entire image has been ironed, allow the vinyl and the backing to cool completely before gently peeling it away.
V. Step back and admire your creation!

SEW:

I. Sew the tote bag according to all instructions, stopping when you get to the section about handles
II. Using the instructions that came with your grommet kit, apply the grommets…aka hammer some stuff! I placed mine on the center mark of the handle placement lines, but they were too low. Use your best judgement here
III. Feed piping through the holes from the inside to the outside. Tie a sturdy knot. Fray out the edges
IV. Throw on a swimsuit, toss your necessities in the bag, and hit up the pool!

*NOTE: there are no sewing instructions for the drink cup as it’s a no sew project! Just insert the fabric between the walls of the cup according to the manufacturers instructions and away you go*

I was invited to participate in the Cricut Party Blogger Program Kickoff.

This experience is based strictly on my opinion.  Others may have a different opinion or experience with the product listed above.  I was provided the sample free of charge by the company or PR agency and I have given my honest opinion.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
