Blank Slate Patterns | Catalina Dress | Pattern Review

When traveling, my go to garment is a maxi dress which is why I chose the Catalina dress to make up for my most recent Blank Slate Patterns post. Watch to hear why I think it’s the best option for travel, some changes I made to the pattern when making it, and a bit of information on the fabric… hashtag: LIBERTY!

Striped Ruffle Henley Shirt inspired by LOFT

I don’t know about you guys, but I love the style of Loft’s clothes. Slightly more feminine than J. Crew, there’s something about them that I’m drawn to. And, as a sewist, every time I fall in love with something I always think, “I can make that.” So, I don’t buy it and 9 times out of 10, I never make it either. That’s mostly because I can never find a similar enough fabric.

Well, thanks to Cali Fabrics, that wasn’t the case with this awesome blouse! I now have my own perfectly-fitting, me-made, Loft-inspired top!

Learn all about the inspiration shirt, the fabric I found to knock it off, and the patterns (yes, plural) that I used to make it in my latest video!

May 2017 SEWING Favorites

Here are my May Favorites (even though I kept saying “June” in the video. LOL.) I have had a couple of months to round up some awesome new sewing things since my last favorites video. I hope you like them.

Fabric Pre-Washing Experiment

Ever wonder how pre-washing fabrics changes them? I took some of the more unique or interesting fabrics from Style Maker Fabrics’ Spring 2017 line and washed half of the swatch to see what, if anything, happened. It was a fun experiment that I think teaches us all how important (or detrimental) pre-washing can be!
